On Tuesday, September 13, the PA Supreme Court will hear oral argument in the landmark school funding lawsuit in its Philadelphia courtroom and we invite you to be part of this important event.

The lawsuit argues that PA’s school funding system is so inadequate and inequitable that it violates provisions in the state constitution that require a “thorough and efficient system of public education” and equal treatment under the law.

At the argument on September 13th, the plaintiffs will ask the PA Supreme Court to allow the case to go to full trial  and allow students and their families to have their day in court.  The plaintiffs will be asking for the opportunity to share their stories in order to prove that PA’s broken system for funding education is so broken that the courts must intervene in order to guarantee that all children in PA will have adequate resources to learn,  no matter where they live or what school they attend.

Six school districts – William Penn, Panther Valley, Lancaster, Greater Johnstown, Wilkes-Barre Area and Shenandoah Valley – the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS), and the NAACP Pennsylvania State Conference are among the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

Monday, September 12 from 2:00-6:00, come to a Sing-In at Dilworth Park in Philadelphia.  Join choirs, bands, drill teams, and orchestras from across the city in a sing-in for education justice and fair funding.

Tuesday, September 13 at around 9:00 am the PA Supreme Court will hear the appeal.  Help us fill the halls of City Hall and show the courts just how important this case is. We expect that supporters will be able to watch the argument in the court room in an overflow court room in City Hall.
