We’ve all been following the Pennsylvania school funding lawsuit for years.  So. Many. Years.

Meanwhile, the inadequacy and inequity go on and on.

The lawsuit is finally going before the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court – the lawyers have done their part and the trial will begin in Harrisburg on September 9th

Now, public education advocates have an important role to play. We need to turn up the heat ? on the school funding problem in our communities and demonstrate public support for legal action and remedy.

How can you help?

Passing a resolution in support of Pennsylvania’s school funding lawsuit is one tool people have to expand awareness and demonstrate support for the lawsuit.

Ready?  Great!

  1. Take a look at the materials

2. Submit a short letter (sample here) and the resolution to the organization asking the members to consider passing it.

Dear United Way in my community or Lewis Elementary School PTO,

Our community, like communities across PA, continues to live with the inadequate and inequitable funding system for PA schools. This is a problem the state legislature could act to solve but hasn’t. Now the case is going to court. Community organizations can help by speaking up and passing a resolution to help highlight this issue and ask for intervention to address it. Please consider passing the attached resolution.

Signed,

You, and maybe a few other people too

If the organization passes a resolution, send an email to sspicka@educationvoterspa.org and we’ll add you to the list of organizations taking steps to support intervention in the long term school funding equity issue.
