Website!!
We have a new look, but the same commitment to providing you with high-quality information, authentic voices, and targeted advocacy so that, together, we can achieve wins for Pennsylvania’s public school students.
A couple of highlights:
- You can find links to our webinars and scroll through a news section to see at a glance hot topics in education.
- This website will make it easier to explore issues and find information, including our charter school reports and our advocacy toolkit.
My favorite thing is that we are going to be developing even more resources to support you, including school district fact sheets, one-page documents about issues, additional training resources, and more!.
We know you take time to follow the issues and to take action. We’d be honored if you’d support the organization with a few $ . Whether you can contribute $100 or $10 (or any amount that works for you) it makes a difference for our work. Click here to give.
Stickers. And the winner is…
If you gave your address when you voted for the button design, we will be mailing you a button (or multiple buttons!) with a thank you note for your donation next week. And we will be sending buttons or stickers with thank you notes for any donation over $25 for the rest of the year!
As we look to the fall, a few priorities have risen to the top of our list of work:
- Mobilizing to support the school funding lawsuit, which will go to trial on October 12th in Harrisburg. We are awaiting more information about the trial and are developing many varied opportunities for advocates to be involved–including asking organizations in your community to pass a resolution in support of the school funding lawsuit–which you can do today!!
- Continuing to work with the Level Up coalition to help accelerate funding to schools that have the fewest resources available to meet their students’ needs,
- Reallocating tax dollars away from the horseracing industry to scholarships for public university students. The recent coverage of how messed up Pennsylvania’s horseracing industry is demonstrates a clear need for new priorities in Harrisburg. This is the year that lawmakers will need to choose between funding dead horses or live students.
- Charter school funding reforms! So much to do to fix cyber charter school funding, special ed charter funding and …. just charter school funding. We will be issuing new fact sheets this fall. Stay tuned.
Thank you for your continued support of public education.
Best,
Susan Spicka, Executive Director, Education Voters of PA
